Fragrances as home decorative elements

“Home, sweet home”, that familiar quote that comes to mind when we spend time away from home makes a lot of sense when it comes to aromas. There is nothing like opening the door of our house, perceiving its aroma and recognizing that we are in a familiar place.

We must begin with the most basic: what allows us to perceive aromas and odors of all kinds is the sense of smell, one of the most sensitive in the human being, and that we exercise unconsciously, it can create several sensations and reactions.

As many scientific studies have pointed out, odors and aromas are a vehicle that transports us to sensory experiences. The reason is that the human being memory is able to retain up to 10,000 different aromas, although usually only recognizes around 200 and these influence in the emotions, generate memories, and evoke pleasant or unpleasant experiences that impact our humor and even how we sleep.

When we enter a house the first thing we perceive, sometimes unconsciously, is its aroma, then the decoration and finally the furniture layout. Currently, this aromatic element has gained importance because pleasant aromas are associated with cleanliness as well, which makes nice inhabiting those spaces and receiving visits.

An aroma can complement the decorative style of a house, and definitely make it unforgettable.

For example, a bohemian and eclectic décor style could be match with the warm aroma of apple and cinnamon; or a minimalist décor style with some citrus fruit.

Nature elements such as fruits or flowers inspire those fragrances that can create an atmosphere of freshness and humans have found the way to make those great smells last longer.
